Treatment Journey
2. Intake Forms and Halaxy Profile
Before your first counselling session, you’ll be asked to complete intake forms covering important information such as privacy and confidentiality, basic details, and Medicare and referral details, etc. These forms are securely stored on Halaxy.com, which helps manage your invoices and appointments.
3. Getting to Know Each Other (1-2 Sessions)
In the first 1-2 sessions, we start to build or working relationship and get to know each other, explore your clinical history, and screen for specific conditions (generally through online questionnaires) if appropriate. This collaborative process helps tailor the therapy to your needs.
4. Treatment (Ongoing or Brief Intervention - Online or In-Person)
Therapy may involve approaches such as psychoeducation, CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, mindfulness, and more, depending on your needs. We regularly review and adjust goals as therapy progresses. Treatment can be ongoing or brief. Medicare rebates apply for eligible clients.
6. Conclusion (Ending the Therapeutic Relationship)
When you feel ready, we will discuss your progress and ensure you have the tools and resources to continue. My goal is for my clients to become their own therapists, where they don't need me any more. Ending therapy is a positive process, and you can return in the future if needed.
7. Referrals
If conditions outside my areas of competence are identified or where it would be better to consult another health professional (such as a psychiatrist for an ADHD assessment), I or your doctor may refer you to a specialist. You may return to therapy once those assessments are complete, or continue treatment alongside these processes.
